October Flower of the Month

Aromatic Aster (Aster oblongifolius) with Pyrausta tyralus

The Aromatic Aster is found in the eastern and central United States. Blooming in the late summer and fall, it produces small, blue to purple, one quarter inch and larger flowers.  Asters typically bloom during the fall and provide a splash of color for humans to enjoy as well as food for hungry insects.
